Iraq supports Lukoil’s plans to launch Eridu field sooner
MOSCOW, Mar 29 (PRIME) -- Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi has supported a suggestion of Russian oil major Lukoil of launching production at the Eridu field, or at the Block 10, ahead of schedule, Lukoil said in a statement following a meeting of Abdul-Mahdi with the company’s CEO Vagit Alekperov.
“The sides discussed implementation of several projects, including geological exploration at the Eridu (Block 10) field in Iraqi’s south. Adil Abdul-Mahdi praised Lukoil’s activity in the republic and supported the initiative to speed up the launch of industrial exploitation of the Eridu project,” the company said.
Earlier in March, Lukoil and Japan’s INPEX successfully finished tests of the field’s fifth well, and affirmed the geologic model of the field.
